On Friday 6th April we travelled back from America. As we left in the taxi, we turned and said a very emotional goodbye to some fantastic people and drove the 25minute journey to JFK Airport filled with mixed emotions. Happy and excited about being surrounded by family and friends, but also a sense of sadness and defeat. We couldn't help but feel we weren't doing our best for our baby girl. The cancer had won YET AGAIN!
During the 7hour flight home, Sadie slept the whole way! She was as good as gold so the journey was very quiet and trouble free. |

This past week has been one of the hardest. We have had to make such a difficult decision as to what we do next.........We have decided to come back to the UK for more Chemotherapy. The last cycle showed that her tumors had stabilized with one however growing slightly. Sadie is now on regular painkillers to control her pain which she gets occasionally, mainly on a night time.
On Friday we said our goodbyes to New York, and to some amazing people also. Sadie was an angel on the flight home, and slept the entire journey! |

Well it has come around again........the dreaded point where we will soon know whether Sadie's last cycle of ICE Chemotherapy has worked. We are praying to GOD that he has blessed Sadie and given her body the strength to carry on fighting this cruel disease.
Since arriving in New York after Christmas, we have had nothing but negative and devastating news which has shocked us to the core. Sadie has painted us a totally different picture to what her last scans revealed.
We appreciate how supportive everyone has been, but with this said. |

We had a meeting with Sadie's NB Team, and were told yet more heartbreaking news that her tumors had stabilized apart from 2 which had grown! Even though she was having Chemotherapy!!! We were told that the Dr's were having a meeting to talk about Sadie's case and all options would be discussed including not treating her at all and sending us back home to UK for Palliative Care.
We just can't believe how good she actually is though and her scans say something totally different! |

This week (14th Feb-17th Feb) Sadie had a Stem Cell Harvest. This process collects Sadie's stem cells using a HUGE and complicated machine. It took around 3hours each day to do, and Sadie had to lay really still. Which she did so well!!! We had to give her a large dose of GCSF which is an injection that we gave her into her leg each morning. These came with some nasty side effects and caused her to have bone pain which is caused by the GCSF stimulating her bone marrow to produce more stem cells, prior to the harvest. |

Well guys, this week we found out that Sadie's blood counts had dropped due to the Chemotherapy she had last week. It was a tough week last week for Sadie as her body was hit hard with the treatment! Sadie hasn't had Chemo this harsh for nearly a year so we found it hard to watch her cope with it all.
We had a follow up appointment yesterday which resulted in her having a Platelet Transfusion. We also now need to give her a daily injection of GCSF into her leg, which will hopefully boost and raise her White Cell count which is needed to help your body fight off infection. |

Yesterday we received the terrible news that Sadie had relapsed.........and new tumours were found in her Liver and in her chest cavity. All the hope we once felt, on arrival in New York had been smashed to bits!
We are currently waiting for news from the US Doctor's on propose treatment, if any!!
If the treatment offered is not in Sadie's best interests then we will bring her home to be with her family and loved ones. The UK doctors would then start her on Palliative Care which means they will keep her comfy until the time comes to say goodbye. |

Sadie slept well in a HUGE double bed all to herself!!! We went down for brekkie and then hit the busy streets of Manhattan to find a Supermarket. We stocked up our cupboards, and then went for a lovely walk around Central Park. It was FREEZING but beautiful, all the same!!
Sadie and I went on a carousel which she loved!!!!

Saturday 7th January 2012
Our alarm woke us up at 4.30am this morning. Although, we were already awake worrying about what lay ahead for us all! We arrived at Manchester Airport for 7am and checked in. This was it, our lives were about to change FOREVER!!!!!! Hopefully for the better.
After saying an emotional goodbye, we waited to board the flight to JFK, New York. Sadie was more interested in the little buggies that drive around transporting your luggage from one place to the next!!!
At 10.50am we took off into the clouds and looked back as Manchester got smaller and smaller and smaller. |

After many many sleepless nights, worrying about what our daughter's future held. Something AMAZING happened.
I was up until all hours emailing, writing letters, and even set up a twitter account but had no idea what to do!! But eventually worked it all out.
Then late one night I had a direct message from Abbey Clancy. Who was touched by our story and asked to call me. So I sent her my number and spoke to her the next night for over half an hour and had a rather emotional conversation. Both Abbey and Peter Crouch vowed to help do all they could to raise the profile of Sadie's Appeal and help with any fundraising Events we needed to do. |
